The girl is adopted, by the way, and there were some rumors of abuse, though they weren’t ever confirmed. She has a habit of sucking on her fingers and biting her nails to the point of blood, but pain doesn’t seem to bother her too much.

i work at a renown day care center that specialises in cases like this. get th book the sleep fairy by Janie peterson. its a mirical book! before she sleeps tell her if you go to sleep right away the sleep fairy will come, and give her lots of praise ” what a good girl.. your so good lying down right away.. ” we have alot of kids that are adopted and are in foster care and things have happend to them.. is well. when she sleeps put something like a peice of candy under her pillow, when she wakes up, she can have it. it really works! trust me! good luck!
Set up a bed time routine, and stick to it. The crying an fighting will stop. Give it time though it does not work overnight. At a certain time about 1 hr before bedtime give her a relaxing bath, try lavender scent baby bath. Then brush teeth, etc. Finally when it is time for bed let her pick two stories read them to her and tell her goodnight. Give her 3 passes to come out for what ever and when the passes are gone she has to stay in bed. But remember it will probably take a lot of crying before it works, but be kind, but firm.
Ignor HER!!! Put her in her room, shut the door, and never open it till the morning. If you need to go to sleep, then just wear ear plugs.
Show her she isn’t the boss!
