Here is something weird. It seems that for some reason, sleep deprived people may encounter some reduced brain density courtesy of a study from the University of Cambridge. This was done through brain imaging where the people over at the University were able to link insomnia to brain density reduction in grey matter, fundamental to brain activity.
The study is significant because it begins to explain how insomnia disrupts the brain’s functioning. Whereas previous researchers have known that insomnia disrupts the brain’s functioning, the real cause of the malfunction had not been known.
