It now appears that obesity is not necessarily the culprit in obstructive sleep apnea. We have always been given to understand that  those who were overweight were more prone to obstructive sleep apnea, than slim people. However, a recent study involving Chinese people found that they had a higher incidence of obstructive sleep apnea than Westerners, and they are not an obese race, so where lies the trigger for this dangerous symptiom?
