Cambrianna S asked:
My one and half year old nephew often moans, cries and screams in his sleep? What is going on?
Thanks for all the suggestions! He hasn’t been abused and the only shows he sits still long enough to watch is Little Einstein and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. The funny thing is when he wakes up in the morning he’s all smiles!

Hey is most likely having nightmares. My son did the same thing around that age. I would pick him up and hold him and he would just cry and scream, and he wouldnt wake up, he was still sleeping. They will grow out of it, but there are a lot of things he may see during the day he doesnt understand.
He could very well be cutting some teeth…possibly molars. I know my son will go through phases where he cries out at night. Typically it will last for a few days…maybe a week and then *poof* there’s a new tooth in his mouth :)
He’s having bad dreams. He is evidentally seeing movies before going to bed.
Is he the only son or he has other siblings. I have 3 children – 2,3 and 4. My 2nd daughter tends to be more sensitive and she oftens screams and kicks in her sleep. And I have to watch my eldest one, a boy, to make sure he does not pick on her.
Just keep an eye on the day time activities, make sure he has enough rest. At 1 and a half, he stills need the afternoon nap. My kids tend to be cranky and do not sleep well if they skip the nap. And a wind-down period (story telling, book reading, songs) before bed time helps.
Could be dreams… could also be a tummy ache or gas. Try giving him some mylicon at bedtime and see what happens.
