I used to have precognitive dreams very often, but wondering why this stopped happening?

Devon F asked:

I used to have dreams that came true on a fairly often basis. I’ll admit the content was not usually happy scenarios, and sometimes I would dream about something completely random that would come true. The prophetic dreams usually happened in my late teens and 20s.

A few examples: I had a dream once that I saw a guy’s body go over the side of an overpass, on a freeway. The next day I went into work and told my co-workers about this dream…..that very night when we got out of work there were cops everywhere, turns out a 19 year old guy taped a suicide note to himself and jumped off the overpass, right next to my work. Needless to say after that everyone I worked with was “creeped out” by my dreams. Also, the district manager of my old job used to come to our store 2-3 times a year, and every time right before he would visit I would dream of him being there. My dreams turned out to be so accurate my manager would always make me tell him ahead of time so he could clean and prepare!
There are many other examples I could give……I used to dream of couples I knew of breaking up, even divorcing, and within 2-3 days they would split. One time I dreamt my friend was in the hospital, and the night before she had been in a car accident. Not all my dreams were bad, probably about 70% were of “unhappy situations”. I would tend to tell people about “this weird dream I had” and then it would come to pass. This would really freak people out, I guess I was used to it. I got to where I kinda stopped telling people, cuz they just thought it was weird and I think it scarred them.

Anyway, I was wondering first of all if maybe I just outgrew this….or why it doesn’t happen much anymore. And also, what the point is to these types of dreams in the first place if I wasn’t able to help anyone with the information I was given.

  • i had a lot of dreams like that, but i haven’t had any in a while either. my mom had them too. i heard that if you meditate or do things to get back in touch with your “spiritual” side they come back around. and there’s not really an explanation for why people get those dreams. some of us are just more sensitive i suppose.

  • As we get older, the less we “naturally” tune into our environments. I would say your dreams are a combo of intuition and unconscience observations. The mind records EVERYTHING and stores the information away.
When I was young, I always had the sensations described as out of body experiences, but had no clue. As an adult, I studied this, and realized what had happened. I pursued these studies, and returned to the “clairvoyant” state from childhood. I now pick up phone before it rings, think about a movie and it will be on TV within a week (I never surf TV guides) think of someone and they would call.
Practice brings back what we forgot how to do as children. As adults, other things contstantly occupy our minds.

  • perhaps you had an entity or spirit of some sort that used you as a medium to channel premonitions so that u could warn others of the danger, which would explain why you saw mostly bad things. the spirit may have ‘moved on’ and that’s why you stopped having them. but if the spirit chose u in the first place, it’s probably because you were special in a clairvoyant way and other spirits may choose u for that same reason again.

  • Been there and still there. From what I was able to gather from my mother there seems to be a kind of psychic thing on her side of the family if you believe in that sort of thing but I’m starting to get the hang of it. In my experience when these situations happen I have this strong feeling (can;t describe it) that seems to start around my stomach and starts stimulating my brain. From there I can normally predict what’s going to happen event by event. There was one moment I started saying it out loud scaring a couple people

My cure-all for this kind of thing is to take some time, shut off all the lights and find a quiet room and just sit. I use meditation which keeps my mind sharp but relaxes the overactivity of it. I also use this same method to stimulate my brain to keep my senses sharp. It increases hand-eye coordination and the five senses.

Maybe it’s gift or maybe it’s freak of nature. Ask you parents and see if they have any thing to relate to it and if you can go further back to your grandparents that would be even better. Maybe it’s a family thing.

  • If your precognitive dreams seem to have stopped it maybe that you have no need for them right now. In fact, you may be in a phase where the dreams are currently playing out in your outer life. There is a cycle to life and often we find that our dreams reflect our life and our life reflects our dreams…it is an odd thing that can make you feel uneasy at times…wait and see..if you want more dreams ask before you go to sleep for guidance.
