Does anyone know anything about sleep walking/talking in children?

artkrista asked:

I have a 5 yr old daughter who has been sleep walking and talking since she was about 1 yr old, and as she gets older it’s getting worse. We’ve had to put locks on the tops of the doors so she can’t leave the house. She screams and cries like you would’nt beleive. What can I do to help her with this?

  • You need to have your child tested. When my brother was younger, pre-JR high age, we thought he was sleep walking, but really it was a seizure. DR. were able to control it for the most part with medication and diet, but it sounds a lot like what you’re experiencing. They never did get an official diagnosis and he had several cat scans. It been years now since he’s had an episode though.

  • My son is 3, he’s never sleep walked (that I’m aware of anyway) but he’s always talked in his sleep right from when he was a baby and just babbling. Now he’s a little older I’ll talk back to him – he usually goes right back to sleep again after a few minutes – sometimes i think he’s just dreaming out loud and other times he’s getting over a tough day. Maybe if you can catch her before she starts walking around you could talk to her and she’d stay put. Good Luck!
