  • its called calm forte its a natural calming tablet that calms you down for a better nights rest

  • 10 hrs. of hard manual labor works for me.

  • Melatonin: This hormone, which occurs naturally in the body, has proven effective as a supplement for short-term uses such as resetting the body clocks of shift workers and travelers or treating occasional insomnia.22 Melatonin is released nightly by the pineal gland to signal the body to sleep. As we age, this gland produces less than the normal 0.3 mg/day, according to Richard Wurtman, M.D., professor of neuroscience at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, Mass.

Also, good sleep habits are important. Go to bed and get up at the same time everyday.

    Good Luck!

  • Hops,Valerian combination works well. You can get Valerian in liquid form for when you wake and can’t get back to sleep. There is also a product called Calms Forte’ it is a homeopathic remedy

  • get a little lavender and stick it under ur pillow it sounds like a hippy but it helps!

  • drink some chamomile tea make u feel relax & calm, even sleep better quality :)

  • Depending on the season, a warm bath is a great way to relax. If you can’t take a bath, you can give yourself a foot massage with slightly warm massage oil, sesame oil, or castor oil from a health food store.

What was very helpful to me, especially when my mind was racing, was to lie in bed and listen to relaxation CDs, especially those that contain someone speaking with relaxing music in the background. Many of these CDs are available on eBay for very low prices.

A helpful technique is to relax your body one part at a time. So you could relax your feet, your lower legs, upper legs, moving up from your lower belly up to your chest, etc., etc.

Of course, guided relaxation methods can help, imagining yourself in the country, the beach, or whatever is most soothing to you.

If you have annoying thoughts or personal issues that run thru your mind when you are trying to sleep, you might have to deal with those issues first. You might want to talk to a counselor or therapist about that. I suggest avoiding prescription sleeping pills unless nothing else helps.

There are herbs that are helpful for sleep, eg, valerian root, kava kava, chamomile, hops, passion flower, skullcap. If you get the real herbs, you can make teas out of them. Otherwise get the herbs in capsule form. Probably, valerian root and kava kava are the best.

You can also try trytophan, 5-HTP and melatonin (1-2 mg). I would not take melatonin for over a month. It is a hormone produced by the pineal gland. If you take too much, your pineal gland might get “lazy” and produce less melatonin naturally. Life Extension and TwinLabs are probably the best brands, in that order.

  • One of the best remedies is L-tryptophan. It is the same amino acid that is in turkey that makes you sleepy. Another thing you may want to look at is what is causing you to wake up at night. If it between 1-3am you may be having liver issues. If it is between 3-5am you may be having lung issues. Look up the circadian rhythm, it explains why this occurs.

  • a herb called Zizyphus which is in a product I take from a company called Fusion sleep check it out you can buy it cheaper from happy sleeping

  • Herbal medicine works really well for promoting sleep naturally. Some effective ones are: catnip, skullcap, lavender, chamomile, linden, and lemon balm, lady’s slipper, valerian, and hops. What you could do is pick 3 – 4 herbs and mix up your own formula (equal parts each). Steep 1 teaspoon in a cup of hot water for 20 minutes.

You could vary this formula from time to time so that your body does not become dependent on it. Just to let you know, hops is has a bitter and valerian and lady’s slipper are kind of stinky smelling – kind of like a wet dog. No kidding!

Some people may need to drink this tea for a few nights before they get results. It all depends on the individual.

Some other ideas you could use are:
    1. Avoiding eating too close to bedtime. A full stomach could prevent you from sleeping properly.
    2. Taking a warm bath or warm foot bath will help to make you relaxed and drowsy.
    3. Getting some exercise during the day can also help you sleep better at night.
    4. Stretching and deep-breathing exercises before bedtime can also help you to sleep.
    5. If you’re stressed and worried about something try to deal with it early on in the day so that you’re not thinking about it at night.
    6. Don’t watch or listen to the news or anything disturbing before bedtime.
    7. Try going to bed at the same time each night. Your body will soon get used to the routine.
