Nothing cures insomnia like the realization that it’s time to get up.

“A 1998 study by Jennifer Luke PhD on 11 cadavers found that the pineal gland which is responsible for melatonin production had massive accumulation of fluoride in the calcium hydroxy apatite crystals produced by the pineal gland”.

“Luke hypothesizes that one of the four enzymes needed to convert the amino acid tryptophan (from the diet) into melatonin is being inhibited by fluoride. It could be one of the two enzymes which convert tryptophan to serotonin or one of the two which convert serotonin to melatonin”.

If fluoride exerts a negative effect on the production of melatonin in the pineal gland, and  melatonin is responsible for regulating the circadian rhythms then the end result of this could mean disruption to the normal sleep patterns. Hard to imagine what might be the effects on infants given bottled nursery water with added fluoride.
Fluoride is found in processed food, pharmaceutical drugs, and of course it is added to drinking water, and to add further insult it is added to bottled nursery water.

What might be the longterm effect of the accumulation of fluoride in a gland which plays not only a major role in regulating sleep, but in numerous activities in the body.

Something to think about!

Montmorency cherries for a good night’s sleep. Dr Russell Reiter from the University of Texas Health Center has found from his studies  that tart cherries of the Montmorency variety are particularly high in melatonin. So what does this have to do with a good night’s sleep?

Melatonin controls sleepiness at night, and wakefulness during the day, which means it acts to control the circadian rhythms, our 24 hour time-keeper. Can it be so simple, a bowl of cherries for a good night’s sleep? It would appear so, forget the Ambien, and other hypnotics, add a bowl of cherries to your daily diet.

An added bonus, Melatonin is also a potent antioxidant so it will gobble up the free radicals in your system, while at the same time regulating your circadian rhythms.

Living in a world that runs at a breakneck pace, one of the biggest problem that modern people face is sleep deprivation. There have been several studies recently that link sleep deprivation with an increased risk of developing diabetes, heart disease and cancer.

To make matters worse, the effects of sleep deprivation can lessen the body’s ability to process glucose efficiently leading to an increased tendency to put on weight.

One of the most dangerous things attributed to sleep deprivation is an increase of accidents in the home, work place or on the road.

CPAP, Continuous Positive Airway Pressure, is a treatment method for sleep deprivation mainly for the types caused because of breathing problems such as sleep apnea and hypnoapneas. CPAP is considered as a successful treatment method for sleep deprivation since in most cases, patients can completely recover from their sleep problem. Recent research on sleep deprivation has indicated that sleep deprivation shows the same hazardous effects as being in a drunken state.

Perhaps an examination of the influence sleep deprivation has on our mental acuity and performance level can shed light on how we can protect ourselves and others from the disastrous consequences of sleep fatigue. As the pressures of work or business building mount there is always a threat that sleep deprivation may affect performance and lead to a build up of stress.A recent study at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine suggests that sleep deprivation in older adults can lead to earlier death.

In the most severe cases, sleep deprivation can even cause hallucinations, nausea and, in the most severe cases, even death. With regard to the obesity cases, researchers have found that even mild sleep deprivation can disrupt the hormones ghrelin and leptin that regulate appetite.

Sleep deprivation causes serious changes in body physiology and mental composure; lack of sleep may result in irritability, vision impairment, stuttering speech, momentary loss of reasoning, confusions, hallucination and nausea.
