Normally if my kids did that it was one of two things. Either they were teething or they had an ear ache. If it seems like a moan like she is hurting, I would give her some Tylenol. If that helps then at least you know you are dealing with pain of some sort. Good luck!
could be having a nightmare. people do moan and cry while sleeping if they are having a nightmare
hmmmm…..maybe she has and ear infection or she is teething, or she could be dreaming. Does she act like she is in pain in the daytime? Also take her temperature.
If its a nightmare don’t wake her up no matter how bad it is, my cousin had night terrors and the doctor just told them not to wake her, my aunt freaked out and thought the doctor was a quack but I explained to her what I learned in psychology, she wont remember it if you don’t wake her but if you wake up in a nightmare you may remember what she was dreaming.
It’s normal. Both my daughters did that around the same age, and until about 16 – 18 months. Nothing to worry about. They dream, they express something, but it doesn’t really wake them up.
If she starts flipping out and you feel that she’s awake, then you can go to her, hold her, tell her “it’s OK, it’s just a bad dream, go back to sleep, you’ll be safe.”
I’ve mistakenly held my daughters though, thinking they were awake (because they were crying hard), and they weren’t. The result was very dramatic. They kept crying in hysteria, arching their back, it takes them an incredibly long time to settle if we wake then up at that time.
If it does happen to you, keep holding her, use soothing wordsin a soothing voice, don’t get frustrated. If you get frustrated, enlist your husband’s help, until she’s calmed down and ready to go back to sleep.
