Alternative Medicine for Restless Leg
Syndrome
Firstly a search would be made into the
lifestyle of the patient for possible causative factors
such as, diet sodas, sodas in general, caffeine, alcohol,
recreation drugs, and cigarettes, and prescription drugs.
Then the diet would be examined for missing nutrients such as
iron, folate and magnesium, and every effort would be made to
add these nutrients to the diet in the form of supplements
initially , and then to add foods which are good sources of
these nutrients.
Some people have been relieved of their
restless leg syndrome by having a glass of wine before
retiring, whether the wine is red or white does not appear to
matter. So although it has been recommended to eliminate
alcohol from the diet, this refers more to heavy drinking, one
glass of wine will do no harm.
Other people have reported that daytime
exercise has relieved their symptoms, whereas, others say
exercise as close to bed time as possible will release
endorphins the body's own pain reliever. However, most
people find that exercise close to bed time
prevents them from falling asleep easily, it tends to wake them
up, so you may have to experiment with this to see if it suits
you.
Bathing the feet in warm water just before bed
will increase circulation and ease the build up of lactic acid
in the muscle, likewise massage of the feet and lower
limbs before bed is likely to prevent discomfort.
Homeopathy could prove to be all that's needed
to bring relief. While there are remedies which come to mind as
being applicable to the symptom of , relief from movement, it
is far better to visit an homeopath and after a full case is
taken you will be given a remedy to suit your individual needs,
not just your manifesting symptoms of restless leg. Rhus tox is
one remedy which may offer relief, and tarentula hispanica is
another, however, this is just symptom treating it is not
classical homeopathy.
Acupuncture is another holistic treatment which
by correcting the energy flow in the body could restore you to
health. Remedial massage is another, reflexology, and
